Clarksville Highway Church of Christ
CONGREGATION OF FAITH
I feel a strong call to preach and can’t imagine doing anything else. I worked as a Youth Minister and preached from 1985-1995. I worked a salesman from 1995-2004. God has used all of those experiences to prepare me to minister at Clarksville Highway. God has prepared me for this ministry, not only by those job experiences, but by gracing me with committed Christian parents, a large number of godly men and women who have influenced me and taught me through undergraduate and graduate studies, and a select few men and women who have become close friends and have mentored me. I graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Languages and a Bachelor or Arts degree in Preaching. In 1997, I completed a Master of Arts degree in Theology.
God has also blessed me with a great family. DiAnne and I were married in 1988, and she is the greatest wife in the world (my opinion of course!). We have two incredible boys: Houston, born in 1994 and Ry, born in 1999. Being a father and watching them mature and turn into young men is a wonderful experience.
Excluding Jesus, the Bible character I want to emulate most is Daniel. Most people immediately think of Daniel and the Lion’s Den. The verse that pulls at my heart is Daniel 10:12. “Then he said to me, Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. I seek to understand and to humble myself before Him.
Outside of preaching, my hobbies include hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. I have a ’67 Mustang I want to restore and name “The Gospel Chariot.” I have the best job in the world. I’m surprised I get a check for it.
Hi! My name is Greg Smith, and I’m the Pulpit Minister at Clarksville Highway. I came to Clarksville Highway in January 2005. The circumstances surrounding my selection as the Pulpit Minister convince me that I am exactly where God wants me to be. I jokingly, although with great seriousness, refer to my “25-year” contract. I am committed to serving at Clarksville Highway for a long time and helping to strengthen God’s church.
The shepherds have charged me with the care and counsel of the church. My primary responsibilities are preaching and teaching God’s Word, providing Biblical counsel to our members, and sharing God’s Word and the message of Jesus to the lost. You will find me attentive to your needs, compassionate, and caring. Yet, you will also find that I will challenge you to live in cooperation with God and His plans for you.
